2019 Highly Cited Researchers Announced

The world’s most influential researchers

Each year since 2002, Web of Science has presented a list recognizing research scientists who have demonstrated significant and broad influence in a chosen field or fields through the publication of multiple papers – highly cited by their peers – during the past decade. The Highly Cited Researchers 2019 global list was released today. Nearly 50 researchers from UCLA have earned the honor of being named in the 2019 list, and the Samueli School of Engineering is proud to have the following 12 faculty members included.

  • Richard Kaner, Chemistry and Biochemistry, Materials Science and Engineering
  • Ali Khademhosseini, Bioengineering, Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, Radiology
  • Dennis Lettenmaier, Geography, Civil and Environmental Engineering
  • Stanley Osher, Mathematics, Computer Science, Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering
  • Ali Sayed, Electrical and Computer Engineering
  • Kang Wang, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering
  • Yang Yang, Materials Science and Engineering

According to the Web of Science, these researchers have distinguished themselves by publishing a high number of papers that rank in the top 1% most cited works in their field and during its year of publication. Such consistent production of highly cited reports indicates that the work of these researchers has been repeatedly judged by their peers to be of notable significance and utility.
