About this event
You’re invited to the DataX Center for AI Technology Kickoff event, which marks the launch of DataX’s new center dedicated to pioneering advancements in the technology that enables artificial intelligence. Center leadership will share their vision for the center. The event will also highlight UCLA research, showcasing innovative AI methods applied to multiple domains.
There will be two presentations: “Recent Advances in Multimodal Large Language Models and Their Applications” presented by Kai-Wei Chang, Associate Professor in the Computer Science Department, followed by “Learning to Reason in Large Language Models: From Big to Small Data” presented by Baharan Mirzasoleiman, Assistant Professor in the Computer Science Department. After a break, there will be a panel conversation featuring Yuchen Cui, Elissa Kreiss, Guy Van den Broeck and Karen McKinnon.
This event marks the launch of two new DataX centers, with the second, the DataX Center for Quantum Data Sciences, debuting on Monday, February 23, 2026.
