Dear UCLA Samueli Students, Families, Alumni and Community Supporters:

These past few weeks have seen a whirlwind of changes that impact each of us at school, at work, in our homes and throughout communities around the globe. I am writing to share with you, especially our students and their parents, what we have been doing here at UCLA Samueli to adapt to this dynamic situation.

As you probably have heard, UCLA has transitioned from in-person, on-campus instruction to remote learning effective March 11 through the end of the spring quarter in response to the impact of novel coronavirus (COVID-19). There is no higher priority to our school than our community’s health and well-being.

I am so proud of our students, their families, faculty and staff for their resilience, flexibility, ingenuity, understanding and compassion as we navigate these uncharted waters. Our students have been fantastic in their adaptability to attending their classes and review sessions remotely as we head into finals week. Our faculty members have been busy engineering new teaching models and sharing best practices while delivering their lectures via Zoom and other platforms. Our staff members have been instrumental in supporting students and faculty in these efforts. We’ve quickly pulled together as a team, working with students in groups and individually to ensure that we uphold academic continuity and a rigorous curriculum. More importantly, we have been working hard to give our students the academic and emotional assistance they need in order to be successful despite the challenges we are facing.

As a valued member of the UCLA Samueli family, your steadfast support through the years and especially at this critical time is greatly appreciated. We will keep you updated on any upcoming events and activities.

While we strive to keep you informed of new developments at UCLA Samueli, please check Bruins Safe Online for real-time updates and relevant information. Our school website also has the latest operational status and information which you might find helpful.

I understand this is a time of great uncertainty for all of us and I want to reassure you that we will keep you apprised of any updates. Thank you for your understanding and continued support.

Be well and we will stay in touch.
