WE@UCLA

UCLA’s Women in Engineering program, known as WE@UCLA, is a student-support program within the UCLA Samueli School of Engineering run by full-time professional staff. There is no membership; it’s not a club, and WE@UCLA activities are open to all UCLA Samueli students.

Mission

UCLA’s Women in Engineering program (WE@UCLA) hosts a variety of activities that raise awareness of women’s experiences in engineering and computer science. WE@UCLA promotes an environment that enhances the personal and professional development of students, provides opportunities and resources to develop self-efficacy and leadership skills, and facilitates a rewarding career path after graduation.

Park has a joint faculty appointment in civil and environmental engineering.

WE@UCLA EVENTS AND ACTIVITIES

RESILIENT & SUSTAINABLE INFRASTRUCTURE ACADEMY

In 2025, a series of wildfires caused extensive damage to residential neighborhoods in Southern California.  As communities begin the long process of rebuilding, government officials and engineers are not only asking how to replace what was lost, but how to rebuild in ways that reduce future risk and long-term environmental impact.WE have an opportunity to rethink conventional construction practices and prioritize resilient and sustainable infrastructure (RSI) as a foundation for recovery.

The WE@UCLA RSI Academy, led by Professor Henry Burton and the Burton Research Group (BRG), will provide hands-on technical and real-world problem-solving opportunities, focusing on the design, analysis, and construction of infrastructure systems essential for a resilient and sustainable future.
