The UCLA Samueli Dean’s Corporate Advisory Board (DCAB)

The Dean’s Corporate Advisory Board provides executive-level representation for industry partners of UCLA Samueli. Board members are leaders in their respective fields and come from all sectors of engineering. By invitation from the dean, members are asked to participate based on industry alignment, prior or anticipated relationship to the school, and ability and willingness to provide high-level thought leadership and expertise. This opportunity for professional development and civic engagement is integral to shaping and advancing mutually beneficial partnerships between academia and industry. The board leverages the school’s strengths and assets nationally and globally, helping to create relationships between industry and UCLA Samueli faculty, students, alumni, research centers and institutes. Participation:

Board members will provide thought leadership and expertise to the dean on issues vital to UCLA Samueli, champion the school at their respective companies, and participate in ad hoc work groups as requested and as possible. This includes identifying opportunities advocating philanthropic and research support; facilitating connections between faculty and employees that share research interests; facilitating collaboration between the organizations; and fostering opportunities for student recruitment and internships.

Attend two meetings per year:

The full board meets twice each year (fall and spring). At meetings, the dean gives a State of the School presentation and apprises board members of major developments since the last convening of the board. These meetings also include group discussions on major issues impacting the intersection of industry and academia.

Membership

Membership is on an invitation basis only.

The board serves at the pleasure of the dean and the assistant dean of External Affairs. In the normal course of a term, board members may be asked to rotate off to offer the board a fresh perspective. In addition, membership will be reviewed when more than two consecutive meetings are missed.
