Bruce S. Dunn, the Nippon Sheet Glass Company Professor of Material Science and Engineering at UCLA, has been elected to the World Academy of Ceramics in recognition of his outstanding achievements in sol-gel materials and the development of new electrochemical materials and devices.
Dunn, PhD ’74, joined the faculty at the UCLA Henry Samueli School of Engineering and Applied Science in 1980.
He was one of 17 distinguished researchers named to the World Academy of Ceramics in 2013.
The academy, founded in 1987, is dedicated to promoting progress in the field of ceramics and fostering a better understanding of the impacts of ceramics in science, technology, history and art.
Formal presentation of the academy diploma to new members will take place at CIMTEC 2014, the Conference Internationales Materiaux et Technologies, in Montecatini Terme, Italy, in June 2014.
