Norma Tam is currently SVP of Strategy for Abell. Abell ideates, develops and builds wireless devices for Tier 1 telecommunication companies, leveraging the latest software and hardware technology to address the complexity, scalability and security that national service providers are facing. Since its inception, Abell has deployed
over 9 million devices, enabling over 100 million connected devices.

Norma started her career as a process engineer at Texaco and transitioned into technical sales that spanned her next 25 years from Schneider Electric to OSIsoft and then as VP of Sales at C3.AI, a leading enterprise AI start-up that went public in 2021. Norma was a fervent evangelist for big data, business intelligence, and machine learning for the industrial sector, before the concept became mainstream.

After a long successful corporate career, Norma and her husband (UCLA BS ’93 and MBA ’00) followed their passion for innovation and entrepreneurship and founded their company, Abell, in 2015.

Norma was consistently top-ranked and drove changes and innovation for both her clients and internal team. She has a high aptitude for new ideas and transformation, with grounded knowledge of Energy, Utility & Water, Renewables, Manufacturing, Pharmaceutical, Oil & Gas, Facilities, Data Centers and Telecommunications.

She received a BS in Chemical Engineering from UCLA in 1993 and was a scholarship recipient of the Society of Women Engineers. Norma is passionate about the full circle of innovation, entrepreneurship and giving back and is active in UCLA Women & Philanthropy while mentoring and sponsoring scholarships for engineering students with an entrepreneurial spirit. Norma is a strong believer in breaking the poverty cycle through the power of education and is a life-long supporter of the marginalized and working poor in Orange County and the Caribbean.
