To the Class of 2021, on behalf of the faculty and staff of the UCLA Samueli School of Engineering, I want to offer our warmest congratulations to you on achieving this momentous milestone.

UCLA Samueli is world-renowned for its rigorous academic program and industry alliances. The many hurdles you have overcome and the experiences you have amassed will certainly shape you just as much as the knowledge you have learned and the skills you have acquired along this journey.

Even more so, during this pandemic, you have each faced perhaps the most daunting challenge for any graduating class in the 75-year history of the school. Through it all, you have shown remarkable resilience and ingenuity. Confronted with a wave of social injustice and rampant hate crimes, you have carried yourselves with extraordinary poise and dignity. Not only have you excelled in the pursuit of academic excellence, you have also embodied the true Bruin character that epitomizes service and community.

Today, as you leave UCLA Samueli with a coveted degree from one of the best engineering schools on the planet, you will carry the spirit of a problem-solving Bruin engineer with you no matter what your future endeavors entail. You now join other proud UCLA graduates who share an unyielding commitment to improving society and addressing challenges with integrity, creativity and equity in mind.

I cannot wait to see you thrive in your next adventure, paying it forward for those following in your footsteps and breaking barriers in the next frontiers of technological discovery and innovation. The UCLA Engineering community remains your biggest fan and will always welcome your active involvement. Go Bruins, march forward with confidence and intention as the world awaits your many inspirations.
