In an op-ed carried by CalMatters, Dean Jayathi Murthy addresses Monday’s announcement from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) that international students who take only online classes this fall will not be able to remain in the U.S.
Murthy, who herself came to the U.S. for graduate study, notes that schools should not be forced to choose between keeping their students safe and offering in-person classes. She is committed to ensuring that the education and health needs of the students are safeguarded.
