Each year, the Engineering Society of UCLA (ESUC) hosts the Student Group of the Year Awards, commemorating exceptional student organizations within the UCLA Samueli School of Engineering.

In light of COVID-19 and UCLA’s transition to remote instruction, ESUC has moved the process online this year, giving student organizations the opportunity to nominate themselves for the awards.

There are three awards in total:

  • The Overall Student Group of the Year Award recognizes a student organization for overall excellence and its embodiment of the Bruin spirit.
  • The Bruin Development Award commemorates a student organization for distinction in helping its student members with academic, professional and personal development.
  • The Community Connection Award recognizes a student organization that is exceptional in reaching outside of the UCLA community and helping connect UCLA Engineers with opportunities and resources such as community service and industry workshops.

Two finalists within each category will get the opportunity to give a 10-minute presentation for a panel of ESUC officers, as well as UCLA faculty, counselors, staff and alumni members. They will also participate in a 3-minute question and answer session.

The deadline for a student group to submit an application nominating itself for the awards is Friday of week 7, May 15.

Student groups interested in self-nominating for the awards should review guidelines for the awards and complete the application form. Winners will be announced on June 3.
