UCLA Samueli Building Access

megaphone blue Effective October 1, 2025, all doors to Engineering IV and V buildings will remain locked at all times and will be accessible only via an authorized BruinCard. Due to an increasing number of unauthorized individuals accessing various UCLA Engineering buildings, the school needs to enhance safety measures to protect the students, faculty, staff and other members of the UCLA community.

Q: Will the doors be locked 24/7 and for all engineering buildings?
All doors to Engineering IV and V will remain locked at all times starting October 1, 2025. While this is an initial trial scheduled to run through the end of the year, the program may continue indefinitely and could expand to include Engineering VI as needed.

Q: How will I be able to access Engineering IV and V beginning Oct. 1, 2025?
For UCLA Samueli faculty, staff and students, simply swipe or tap your BruinCard using the card reader located at the entrances to Engineering IV and V. For visitors, please make arrangements in advance with the respective department so an authorized person can meet you at the door and escort you to your meeting.

Q: My BruinCard is currently not authorized for access to Engineering IV and V buildings, what should I do?
Contact the relevant department personnel and explain why you need access to these buildings. The card can be programmed to include access if deemed necessary.

Q: My BruinCard is really old and damaged. How do I get a replacement?
To get a replacement card, please visit the BruinCard Center at 123 Kerckhoff Hall, 308 Westwood Plaza, Monday-Friday, 10 a.m.-noon and 1-3 p.m. While walk-ins are accepted, it is best to schedule an appointment at bruincard.ucla.edu. The fee is $25 for a lost or stolen card or $5 for a card exchange. Payment is by debit or credit card only; cash or Apple Pay will not be accepted. You must bring a valid U.S. government-issued ID card. A new BruinCard typically takes about 10 minutes to print, depending on how busy the center gets.

Q: I’m affiliated with UCLA Samueli but my BruinCard is not properly coded. Who should I contact?
Depending on your department affiliation, please reach out to the following coordinators.

Bioengineering: Crystal Ramirez , Daphne-Jane Dizon
Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering: Tabitha Taylon, Elfren Baclagon
Civil and Environmental Engineering: Stacy FongEvelin Zavala

2. Refrain from using the vehicle entry point located across the Engineering IV building entrance.
3. Use the curb leading to Boelter Hall South West corner and use either the first floor entry or the second floor entry (across the CNSI dock).
4. Use the elevator located on either corners of Boelter Hall to reach the 5th floor and connect to the Math Science building accordingly.
