A Welcome Message from Dean Ah-Hyung “Alissa” Park
Dear Boelter Society Members,
It is wonderful to welcome a new academic year at UCLA Samueli and, more importantly, to welcome our newest Bruin engineers to our community. There is something special about the beginning of a new school year. The energy on campus, the excitement of our students and the sense of possibility that comes with a new class beginning its UCLA journey are truly inspiring.
UCLA is the most applied-to university in the U.S. and the No. 1-ranked public university, according to U.S. News & World Report. UCLA Samueli also continues to rank among the top 10 public engineering schools. This fall, we received more than 30,000 freshman applications and our admit rate was 7.5%, with a median GPA of 4.68. Behind these incredible numbers are talented students with unique stories and aspirations. I always enjoy meeting our new students and hearing what brought them to UCLA Samueli. They arrive with tremendous curiosity, ambition and a desire to make a difference. I have no doubt they will take advantage of the many opportunities available to them and, in turn, leave their own mark on our school.
As UCLA Samueli continues to grow, we remain committed to creating an environment where our students can learn, explore and pursue their passions. From hands-on learning and research to nearly 150 engineering-led student organizations and a wide range of internship opportunities, there are many ways for our students to make the most of their time at UCLA.
We also recognize that this is a challenging time for higher education and research institutions. These challenges make the support of our community more important than ever. Our students should have the opportunity to pursue meaningful research, participate in hands-on learning, explore new ideas and fully engage in the UCLA experience. Philanthropy helps make these opportunities possible.
I am deeply grateful to our Boelter Society members for your continued partnership and commitment to UCLA Samueli. Your generosity is an investment in our students and the future of engineering. Because of your support, we can continue to provide our students with experiences that inspire them, challenge them and prepare them to engineer a better future.
Thank you for being an integral part of the UCLA Samueli community. I look forward to another exciting year and all that we will accomplish together.
With gratitude,

Ah Hyung “Alissa” Park
