Michael Molnar
Research and Development Fellow
The Dow Chemical Company

Michael Molnar is a research and development fellow at The Dow Chemical Company within its Consumer Solutions business. In this role, he is responsible for guiding strategy for process technology research and sustainability within this business segment and fostering development of technical professionals globally.

During his 31-plus-year career, Molnar has worked in multiple process R&D roles focusing on manufacturing technologies for silicon-based materials, including high purity polycrystalline silicon for semiconductor and photovoltaic energy segments, organofunctional silanes, siloxane polymers, and formulated silicone materials. He has developed specialization in chemical vapor deposition (CVD) of semiconductor materials, fluidization and solids processing, reaction engineering, applied process thermodynamics and pilot plant-scale process research.

Molnar is a recognized inventor with ten granted patent families with five pending; these inventions include novel chemical reactor designs, solids processing methods, and catalysis schemes for synthesis of silanes and siloxane polymers. He is a senior member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) and has served in leadership roles both at the local and national level. Molnar also currently serves as the chairman of the board of directors for Particulate Solid Research, Inc., a globally recognized research consortium in gas-solids flow.

Molnar obtained his B.S. in chemical engineering, with an additional major in engineering and public policy, from Carnegie Mellon University, and his M.S.E. in chemical engineering from the University of Michigan.
