UCLA Engineering, Easton Family Launch New Materials Research Labs The school launched
the Easton Labs for Engineering Innovation at a ribbon-cutting ceremony
Oct. 13. The labs are dedicated to the research and development of
advanced materials for civil, aerospace and athletic applications.
Diffractive Optical Networks Reconstruct Holograms Instantaneously Without a Digital Computer In a recently
published article in ACS Photonics, professor Aydogan Ozcan and graduate
student Sadman Sakib Rahman of the Electrical and Computer Engineering
Department presented a novel approach for computer-free, all-optical
reconstruction of holograms using diffractive networks.
‘You Belong’: How First-Gen Students Have Succeeded in STEM Song Li, professor and
chair of the Bioengineering Department, is one of several UCLA faculty
members featured in a story celebrating National STEM Day and National
First Generation College Day on Nov. 8. Li shared his personal
experience as a first-gen doctoral student.
Changing Majors: Discovering Your Best Path to an Engineering Degree Every year, hundreds
of students apply to change their majors to join the UCLA Samueli School
of Engineering or to switch their major to another engineering
discipline within the school. Students who have made that change share
their experiences coming to Samueli.
