N. Simon Kwong

N. Simon Kwong is a research civil engineer at the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). He is a member of the Earthquake Engineering Research Institute and the American Society of Civil Engineers. He has degrees in structural engineering (UC Berkeley, M.S. 2010, Ph.D. 2015) and civil engineering (Cooper Union, B.Eng. 2009). Before joining the Earthquake Hazards Program at USGS in 2019, Simon taught 10 different semester-long courses on various topics in structural engineering as an assistant professor at Cooper Union. Currently, his research at USGS focuses on bringing earthquake science to risk assessment of critical infrastructure such as natural gas pipelines in the United States.
