Senior Executive Director, Development
Melanie Burzynski serves as the Senior Executive Director of Development for UCLA Samueli. She oversees and manages the external affairs team with an emphasis on raising support for the dean’s priorities and the school. In the midst of our Centennial Campaign, Melanie and her team have exceeded our goal of $250 million and are continuing to raise funds for students, faculty and programs.
Prior to coming to UCLA Samueli, Melanie was the Senior Executive Director of Scholarships and Student Support Initiatives at UCLA, where she focused on raising philanthropic gifts for Financial Aid and Student Affairs. During her tenure with the scholarships program, she gave oversight and strategy for the $1B student support goal in the University’s $4.2B campaign. In addition, she oversaw the Graduate Division, Parent Philanthropy and Young Alumni & Student Giving programs.
Before coming to UCLA over 5 years ago, Melanie spent seven years as a Senior Director of Development at the University of Michigan fundraising for student support in the Office of Financial Aid and for the Alumni Association. Prior to that role, she worked for the University’s College of Engineering as a Regional Giving Officer for the Midwest.
Melanie and her team are driven and eager to connect the personal interests and passions of individuals and corporations who want to support UCLA Samueli to garner philanthropic awareness and support for the school. Together we can further the mission and vision of UCLA Samueli.
Melanie has a BFA in Costume Technology for the Theater from Ohio University.
