Maria Martinez is the Director of Gas Engineering for both SoCalGas and San Diego Gas & Electric. Maria manages a professional staff of over 300 ranging from Technical Specialist, Project Managers andEngineers.Maria started her career with SoCalGas in early 2000 as an engineering intern. Since that time, she has held various engineering and managing positions of increasing responsibility. Maria has 10+ years of focused experienced within pipeline integrity for Transmission and Distribution pipelines and most recently in her previous role managed the Transmission Operations organization.

Maria arrived to this path in her life by starting her education at the Californian Polytechnic University of Pomona and majoring in Mechanical Engineering. During her time at Cal Poly Pomona Maria participated in several societies such as the Society of Hispanics and Science Engineers, Society of Women Engineers, Tau Beta Pi, and the Maximizing Engineering Program. Maria is a registered Professional Engineer within the state of California.
