Simon Zewdu is LADWP’s Director of Regulatory Compliance and Specifications Division. He responsible for leading LADWP’s compliance with mandatory federal North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) and Western Electricity Coordinating Council (WECC) reliability standards including LADWP’s regulatory reporting obligations with the California Energy Commission, Department of Energy, California Public Utilities Commission, and other regulatory agencies. Mr. Zewdu also manages Power System’s materials, equipment, and services contracts and re-licensing of the Castaic pumped-storage hydro plant with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). Mr. Zewdu has been with LADWP for 20 years with duties spanning from substation design to project management, strategic planning, and special projects. Prior to LADWP, Mr. Zewdu worked for a consulting firm providing services to the World Bank. He holds an undergraduate degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering and an MBA in finance.
