Rofougaran – The Ronald and Valerie Sugar Distinguished Speaker Series

Maryam Rofougaran is co-founder, Co-CEO, Co-Founder, COO and board member of Movandi Corporation a venture-backed startup commercializing multi-gigabit, millimeter wave RF and systems. Prior to Movandi, Maryam was a Senior VP of Radio Engineering at Broadcom Corporation. At Broadcom Maryam was instrumental in growing a new wireless business unit and turning it into one of its biggest business units. Her team developed and shipped wireless chips generating more than $3 billion revenue annually. Maryam co-founded Innovent Systems in November of 1998 and was Vice president of Product development and member of the board of directors. Innovent Systems got acquired by Broadcom in August 2000.

Maryam received a B.S. and M.S. degrees in Electrical Engineering from UCLA. She is an Inventor and co-inventor on 261 U.S. issued patents. She has been recognized as 50 most powerful women in technology by National diversity council. She has also been recognized as one of the top Female entrepreneurs nationally.

Reza Rofougaran is a leading pioneer, engineering executive, and entrepreneur in wireless system design. He was co-founder of Innovent Systems focused on short range communication in 1998 which was acquired by Broadcom in 2000. In 2016, he co-founded Movandi Corporation focused on 5th generation wireless. He is one of the top ten patent holders in U.S. and top twenty patent holders in the world. Reza holds over 800 issued patents. As IEEE an Fellow and Broadcom Fellow he was influential in starting and building the wireless business at Broadcom that shipped in excess of 1.5 billion radios per year. He is a graduate of UCLA, with PhD in Electrical Engineering.
